China steel exports up nearly 8% year-on-year over record exports 2015

China steel exports in Q1 2016 rose 7.9% year-on-year to 27.83 million tons, while in the same period imports of steel dropped 3.3% to 3.23 million tons.
Apparent domestic consumption in China, however, seems to continue its downtrend and might well drop as much as 10% in 2016. As steel output drops only less than half of that, export pressure does not only persist, it increases.
