China steel exports down 25% yoy in Q1 2017

China steel exports in Q1 2017 were 20.7 mio t, a decline of 25.5% compared to Q1 2016. The revenue from these exports, however, was US$ 13.2 billion, a marked increase of 8.2% over the same period 2016. Apart from the top 10 destinations, disproportionally large drops of China steel exports to India, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran.

2016: China Steel export quantity drops 3.5%, steel export revenue down 13%
China exported 108.4 million tons of steel in 2016, after 112.4 million tons in 2015. The top 10 export destinations represent almost 60% of these exports, up from 55% in 2015. While the quantity was reduced by 3.5%, China's total steel product export revenue declined 13.4% from US$ 62.8 billion (2015) to US$ 54.4 billion (2016). Read More…
